Signing your school up for an after-school cooking program can feel like a big decision, especially when you’re not quite sure who will be working with your students. That’s why, every few months, we spotlight one of our chef-teachers to help you get to know the friendly faces behind the apron.
This time, it’s Chef Daniel. Here’s his story:
“Hi, my name is Chef Daniel.
Before I came to Lift Enrichment, I ran the food program at a preschool, and I also introduced cooking classes. While there, a parent told me about Lift Enrichment.
I applied and completed the onboarding process. I have been with the company for two and a half years as a chef teacher. Lift Enrichment’s support system and mentoring help their staff become chef teachers. If anyone has questions, someone is always available to help.”
Going back to the topic of parents, he adds,
“Many parents tell me that their child now eats more
fruits and vegetables than ever.”
One of Chef Daniel’s highlights?
“While teaching in the El Monte School District, a student’s grandmother told me that her grandson gets so excited every week. She visited the class and told me, “Chef, now I know why he likes this class so much! You make it fun while teaching them.” The following week she made chef aprons for all the students.
Teaching the students and watching their faces, I see that they get so excited to cook and learn. I now know that this is what I was meant to do.
I am proud to be a part of a company that invests in education and healthy cooking.”
